Cover image for project: Nexus Analytics IN PROGRESS

Technical summary

Native NEXUS plugin that implements server-side product analytics infrastructure and feature flags for A/B testing, with no third-party tracking cookies. The core instruments events into the analytics_events table and evaluates flags by percentage rollout with a stable per-user bucket (sha256(flag|user)); the plugin delivers an admin dashboard with five persona-oriented tabs: Overview, Operations, People, Projects and A/B.

Executed scope

  • Server-side event infrastructure: track_event() with event-name sanitization, size-limited JSON properties and a stable per-session id, plus an after_track_event hook for future integrations (GA4/PostHog).
  • MVP instrumentation of 10 core events: page_view, login_success, login_failure, task_created, task_status_changed, task_completed, comment_added, ai_explain_used, plugin_activated and onboarding_step.
  • Feature flags with deterministic per-user rollout and seed flags (ab_login_cta, ab_task_submit, ab_onboarding_wizard), exposed via the analytics_flags API and on the client (nexus-analytics.js).
  • Admin dashboard (Alpine.js + Tailwind + Chart.js) with five tabs, 7/14/30/60-day period selector and a composite 0–100 health score.
  • Automatic comparison with the equivalent previous period (delta cards) for North Star metrics.
  • Operations metrics: backlog aging (>7/>14/>30 days), holding, priority, status funnel (including review→progress rework), average cycle time by priority and resolution rate.
  • People metrics: comments, closed tasks, status moves, WIP, mentions, transfers and average first-response time.
  • Per-project metrics: throughput (new × resolved), open backlog, WIP, holding, average cycle time and resolution rate (top 30).
  • D1/D7/D30 cohort retention and per-plugin traffic (page views + activation/deactivation via audit log).
  • Per-flag A/B estimate: treatment/control sample via rollout × active users, with a ready_for_decision indicator.

Stack and tooling

  • PHP 8 (no framework)
  • MySQL 8 (analytics_events and feature_flags tables)
  • Alpine.js + Tailwind CSS
  • Chart.js 4.4.1
  • NEXUS plugin system (PluginManager)

Operational tags

  • Analytics
  • Feature Flags
  • A/B Testing
  • Data

Operational outcome

  • Unblocked the NEXUS A/B testing audit (Task #1083), enabling metric baselines and the 5 proposed A/B tests (login CTA, task submit, empty state, colors and onboarding wizard).
  • Consolidated management view of SLA, people and projects with no third-party cookies, aligned with the privacy policy.
