Bando de Nerd

Technical summary

Bando de Nerd (bandodenerd.com.br) is a personal nerd portal built on heavily modified WordPress: geek news, complete catalogs of animes, series, movies and games with commentable individual profiles, fan translation and dubbing downloads delivered through a custom Inno Setup installer (multi-language, per-game custom covers) and an internal social network with user profiles. The project is currently paused and will be rebuilt in the future on a more modern stack, keeping this WordPress version as historical reference.

Executed scope

Custom theme (bdn / bdnv1) developed on top of WordPress, with pages composed in Bricks Builder (global templates, user profile, footer) and an exclusive brand font (bandodenerd.woff).
Complete catalogs of animes, series, movies and games: individual profile per title with comments, star ratings (GD Rating System) and sharing.
Internal social network: user profiles with custom avatars, member interactions and catalog discussions.
Fan translation download center (PS3 romhacks and others): each file is delivered via a custom installer generated with Inno Setup (.iss), featuring an exclusive BMP cover per game, support for 25 languages, trilingual anti-piracy notices (PT/EN/ES), embedded translation info and clean uninstall — 50+ translations packaged.
Own URL shortener with YOURLS on the vaila.bandodenerd.com.br subdomain, integrated with WordPress via Better Yourls (automatic short links per post).
Custom ads system (bdn_ad_* slots with store/image/text selection) complemented by Ad Inserter and AdSense integration on the homepage.
ACF frontend forms: new title submissions directly through the site (ACF Frontend Form, dropzone uploads and automatic image cropping).
Custom experience: custom preloader, waiting page ("aguarde, nerd"), admin-controlled maintenance mode and dynamic welcome messages.
Hardened security: Wordfence with dedicated WAF (wordfence-waf.php), scanner whitelist, IP banning and disabled JSON API.
Performance: Cloudflare page cache, object cache, dominant color images and on-demand thumbnail pipeline.
